Eliminating office furnishings from entering our landfills
Atlantic Business Interiors applies recycling practices to their everyday work day. We take steps to ensure that unusable furniture is disassembled and each piece recycled properly. Below is a great example of the recycling work we do.
Bell Aliant Recycles 55 Workstations
Bell Aliant is one of North America’s largest regional telecommunications providers, serving a population of 5.3 million Canadians. Bell Aliant had purchased new workstations for their office in St. John’s, NL and required the existing office furniture to be removed before installing the new equipment. Atlantic Business Interiors assessed the existing furniture, but it was deemed end-of-life as it would not be reusable following disassembly.
Fifty-five used workstations were disassembled at the clients’ site and Atlantic Business Interiors was tasked with recycling the core components. Our service technicians stripped the product down to its recyclable parts and shipped the materials to the appropriate recycling facilities in the city.
8.14 tons of metal was recycled, thus eliminating the materials from entering our landfill.
